La Maison Jaeger-LeCoultre opens the first watchmaking e-school, thanks to an iPhone application specially designed to introduce enthusiasts to the world of Swiss watchmaking. With a series of handouts appearing every 15 days within the application, the apprentice watchmaker will be able to acquire the mastery of the Maison's technicians in assembling, disassembling and producing even the most complicated calibres.
The iPhone user will be able to go through the various stages of knowledge leading to the creation of a work of haute horlogerie, including access to a technical dictionary that will familiarise them with the terminology of real experts, acquiring the meaning of expressions such as 'barrel', 'Clous de Paris' or 'equation of time'. The lessons will appear directly on the interactive screen and will include an introduction to techniques for decorating movements and setting precious stones. With this last handout, you will have to embellish the case of a Reverso Neva with brilliants, without making mistakes and in record time.
There will also be a prize for those who manage to complete the test: one lucky draw winner will be invited to visit the Le Sentier factory.
The application allows navigation among over 60 Jaeger-LeCoultre models, eight of which are interactive. It is therefore possible, for example, to activate the depth gauge of a Master Compressor Diving; to change the time zone of a Master Geographic; to operate the vertical chronograph by touching the glass of an AMVOX2 Chronograph; to rock the case of a Reverso Grande GMT.
Finally, the application includes a store-locator that allows you to locate Jaeger-LeCoultre shops in different geographical areas of the world.
To download the application, simply use the App Store icon on the iPhone menu and enter the Apple Store. ul search engine at the bottom of the screen type "Jaeger" and then select the "Jaeger-LeCoultre" application on the list. Click on "Free" and then on "Download". Enter your iTunes Storet account password. Once installation is complete, use the "Jaeger-LeC." icon on the iPhone menu to launch the application
