Once again this year, Jaeger-LeCoultre, on the occasion of the 69th Venice Film Festival, renewed its commitment to Emergency by supporting the Maternity Centre that the humanitarian association has opened in Anabah, Afghanistan, a country where the health of mothers and children is a daily emergency. Actress Cristiana Capotondi, godmother of this initiative, made her own important contribution by visiting the Maternity Centre in Afghanistan in July and posing among the roses in the garden that surrounds it, to give concrete testimony of the help that Jaeger-LeCoultre is giving to the hospital. And it was precisely these roses that inspired the Le Sentier House project.
"A Rose For Emergency" was celebrated at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday 30 August with a dedicated red carpet, followed by a special dinner prepared by chefs Filippo La Mantia and Davide Oldani. The fifty guests of the evening paraded on the red carpet with a rose. Closing the ranks of this wonderful parade of roses were Cristiana Capotondi, patroness of the initiative, together with Jerome Lambert, CEO Jaeger-LeCoultre, Riccardo Scamarcio and Cecilia Strada, President of Emergency, and chefs Filippo La Mantia and Davide Oldani. For the entire duration of the Film Festival, actors and actresses made their contribution to the project, posing with the initiative's symbolic watch on their wrists and parading with a rose on the red carpet to show their support for the charity. The watches that symbolise this operation, the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin in a men's version and in a women's version customised on the back with a lacquered rose, will be auctioned at Christie's and the proceeds will go entirely to Emergency.
