Official partner of the "Plastiki" expedition, IWC has produced the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition "Plastiki", in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces, to seal the commitment of Englishman David de Rothschild and his crew, who crossed the Pacific in 2010 under the banner of environmental protection with the pioneering and exclusive catamaran "Plastiki", made of 12,500 recycled plastic bottles weighing a total of 12 tonnes.
The watch celebrating this partnership has a steel case, water-resistant to 12 atmospheres, and is equipped with the automatic calibre 80110, with a soft-iron inner case against magnetic fields up to 80,000 A/m and with an integrated shock-absorption device. The engraving on the case back recalls the 'Plastiki' expedition, reproducing the route from San Francisco to Sydney and the catamaran.
