9 December IWC organised a full day of skiing for children under the guidance of its ambassador Eileen Gu, a two-time Olympic freestyle champion, who had just returned in the morning from the 2023 World Cup Final, where she won the gold medal in the women's freestyle ski half-pipe competition. This is the second ski course organised this year by the brand together with Eileen, testifying to their shared commitment to helping children believe in themselves through sport.
The event took place at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou, China. "I really enjoy the days I have spent with the next generation of skiers, helping them to improve their form and self-confidence. It is both inspiring and fun. On days like these, I look at my watch and remember how quickly time passes. I remember when I was a little girl on the slopes and learning my first tricks," said the skier.
Which IWC watch did Eileen wear on the slopes? A model as white as snow: the Pilot's Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition "Lake Tahoe" in white ceramic (like the uniforms of the US Navy) with a matching strap in embossed rubber. It features a deep black dial with black hands coated with luminescent material.
A watch that is the fruit of IWC's collaboration with the Pantone Colour Institute to create an entirely new range of ceramic tones, perfectly matched to all the other components of the watch.
"At IWC we firmly believe that sport is important for the integration of children. It unites them, gives them confidence and can help them feel good about themselves. Therefore, it is very meaningful to us to be able to create environments where children can experience the fun and joy of sport under the guidance of one of the best in her field. Eileen Gu symbolises excellence and precision, representing the same kind of dedication to her work that our watchmakers also have," says Franziska Gsell, Chief Marketing Officer at IWC Schaffhausen.
