Three years after the launch of the first version, the Klepcys GMT Retrograde changes its look. The unmistakable architecture of the movement, with its palm-shaped bridge visible from the dial, now takes centre stage thanks to the use of colour in the 'Palm Green' version. And, for the first time, Cyrus Genève uses an integrated titanium bracelet as an alternative to the classic Cordura strap with stitching in the same colour as the bridge.
The coloured components (the bridge, rotor and seconds hand) undergo an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) process. The latter consists of superimposing 'atomic layers in a vacuum to generate a perfectly uniform and homogenous coating', as the company itself explains.
The green colour, together with the untreated titanium, is in line with the latest image trends. The three-link bracelet, with its mixed satin/polished finish and sporty/chic design, fits so well with the titanium case of the Klepcys collection that it suggests a lot of design work.
The dial is made of anti-reflective sapphire crystal, with luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers that seem to float in the void, accentuating the effect of three-dimensionality. In the centre is the grey opaline arc with luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers alternating with dots for the odd numbers in the second time zone, and the white arrow-tipped hand that returns to its initial position every 24 hours in a retrograde pattern, quite unusual for this type of complication.
The choice of highlighting the main bridge with colour (in the previous versions it was grey) creates an even more dramatic eye-catcher and enhances the manufacture movement, the CYR 708 automatic calibre.
The result of so many innovations is a watch that encapsulates a high level of technology and aesthetics in line with current trends. To this must be added its extreme ease of use (simply press the push-button at 9 o'clock to advance the second time-zone hand), robustness (the case withstands 10 atmospheres) and second time-zone display.
