Tudor's Black Bay Fifty-Eight collection, which encompasses all those vintage details sought after by a growing public, has seen the introduction of precious materials since 2021, demonstrating dynamism and personality. Like the 925 silver version, a rarity for a diver's watch. Silver is in fact a metal with qualities that make it unsuitable for a wristwatch: it is heavier and softer than steel, it oxidises and scratches easily.
Therefore, to create the 39 mm case of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight 925 (water-resistant to 200 metres), an alloy had to be developed in which the silver remains pure, but the other 'secret' elements slow down the oxidation process. The result is an entirely satin-finished case that looks shinier and warmer than steel.
An unusual dove-grey has been chosen for the dial, which changes shade as the light changes and can appear lighter or darker depending on the situation, in line with the nuances, also changing, of the case. The graphics are unchanged from the other references in the collection, with snowflake hands and applied hour markers, while a grey anodised aluminium disc is applied to the silver bezel, with the minute scale for diving times. .
The sapphire case back is also unusual for a diver, but it suits the precious metal well and, above all, lightens the overall weight. The satin finish of all surfaces accentuates the sporty character, but it is very likely that with daily use the metal will take on an even more sparkling appearance, as is the case with all silver objects. The movement is the manufacture calibre MT5400 with automatic winding, Cosc-certified and with a 70-hour power reserve. For the strap, there is a choice of dark brown leather or a grey Jacquard fabric with a silver stripe, while a metal bracelet is not provided, as the weight and pliability of silver is not suitable for this purpose.
