175 years of Patek Philippe

Today, 1st May 2014, I am pleased to announce the 175th anniversary of Patek Philippe and the imminent launch of a special section on patek.com dedicated to the Manufacture's chronology - a showcase of a continuous history, ours, longer than any other watch brand. The chronology section will be enhanced throughout the year with compelling stories of our past and present.

We are convinced that one of the secrets of Patek Philippe's success is its independence (in Geneva, we are the last remaining family-owned watch manufacturer). Over the years, the freedom we have enjoyed has allowed us to be true pioneers and to express creativity and innovation, as demonstrated by our wide range of patents, the unique design of the models we make and our commitment to safeguarding rare crafts.

My great-grandfather, Charles Henri Stern, took the reins of Patek Philippe in 1932 together with his brother Jean. It was Charles Henri's son, my grandfather Henri, and my father Philippe who instilled in me the desire to remain true to the vision of the company's founders and to continue to create and produce the best watches in the world.

It fills me with pride to be at the helm of Patek Philippe at a time that represents an important milestone in our history. And it consolidates my will to keep alive the old creative and innovative spirit that makes the Manufacture famous.

I take this opportunity to thank you for sharing our passion for Patek Philippe.

Cordially,

Thierry Stern
President
