Big Bang is the collection that has shaped the image of Hublotwithout betraying its most cherished themes. The composition of the case in overlapping layers that allows for play with materials, the screws on the bezel and lugs that make a strong visual impact. Its ostentatious design goes well with the use of alternative materials, mixed together with great ease.
In 2010, Hublot launched its own in-house calibre, the Unico movement, intended to be housed in the case of the King Power and since 2013 also on the Big Bang. One of the features of this flyback chronograph is the positioning of the mechanism with horizontal coupling and the column wheel on the dial side.
In this version of the Big Bang Unico, the art of fusing materials is translated into a titanium case and a blue ceramic bezel, a material well mastered by Hublot. Titanium is widely used by the brand in its models precisely because of its lightness and resistance, and its hypoallergenic properties. On the scale of titans used in watchmaking, Hublot uses grade 5 titanium: alloyed with 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium, it results in a stronger titanium that is more resistant to corrosion, scratches and heat.
The movement is the automatic HUB 1280 calibre. A skeleton dial was chosen for its construction, which features the column wheel and part of the chronograph mechanism from the front. The date display is positioned above the chronograph mechanism and is clearly visible at the same level as the hour circle. The display of functions is of the bi-compax type, with central chrono seconds, chrono minutes at 3 o'clock, continuous seconds at 9 o'clock and date at 3 o'clock.
The interchangeability system allows you to alternate between a choice of bracelets to replace the strap supplied. The latter is made of structured natural rubber, the brand's emblem since its inception, which integrates perfectly with the case middle.
