At Geneva Days 2017, Hublot presents the new Big Bang MECA-10 Magic Gold. A special feature of this timepiece is the fact that the Magic Gold "envelops" a movement with a Meccano-inspired design, revolutionising the canons of traditional watchmaking. The new Hublot manufacture calibre, named HUB1201, whose innovative structure reveals the original power reserve mechanism on the dial side, is housed in a case made of Magic Gold, the world's first unscratchable gold, the hardest in the world, developed and patented by Hublot with the EPFL five years ago. The Big Bang MECA-10 is, in fact, the archetype of the Hublot philosophy, as it is a watch that bears witness to the path taken by the Hublot Manufacture, a history marked by innovations on a global scale, testifying to the pioneering spirit of the Maison which sees in its materials an inexhaustible source of inspiration and in its movements the opportunity to go beyond watchmaking standards. Certified by the Precious Materials Control Office, the 18-carat gold from the Nyon-based Maison can only be treated with diamond and is the first in the world to be unbreakable: it boasts a hardness of almost 1,000 Vickers. Produced today by the high-tech foundry of the Nyon Manufacture, this patented material with exceptional properties is made from a revolutionary alloy of 24-carat gold and ceramic. Calibre HUB1201 is equipped with two parallel barrels with a rack-and-pinion power reserve display, with two racks running along the 9-3 o'clock axis thanks to a rack-and-pinion system, with a double power reserve display and a design, as mentioned, inspired by Meccano. The Big Bang MECA-10 Magic Gold reveals the mechanics of the movement and the atypical design of its 10-day rack-and-pinion power reserve from the dial side. The Big Bang MECA-10, produced in a limited edition of only 200 pieces, thus encapsulates the best of Hublot's signature mechanics and precision.
