Three absolute firsts in one watch: Hublot's new Big Bang Integral Cathedral Minute Repeater Ceramic is not only the world's first minute repeater with a ceramic case (43 mm in diameter) and bracelet, it is also the first Big Bang Integral Ceramic to be produced in a black version, as well as the first in the same collection to be equipped with a tourbillon device.
The latter is housed in the calibre MHUB801.H1.RH (319 components, 21,600 vib/h, 30 jewels), a hand-wound mechanical movement, obviously manufactured, which ensures an autonomy of 80 hours, i.e. more than three days: an exceptional power reserve for a tourbillon, but not for the Maison, which holds the world record for power reserve for a movement equipped with a tourbillon (50 days).
It must be borne in mind that ceramic is an extremely difficult material both to work with and to finish. Its colouring requires exceptional precision in firing so that the result is perfectly homogenous. In addition, monochrome ceramic is very complex to work with, complicating the design of the case, which in turn can compromise water resistance, a guarantee of pure, crystal-clear sound. All parameters are interdependent.
The watch is also available in a second version in white ceramic: 12 pieces of the black version and 6 of the white one will be produced.
