Inspired by the aviator chronographs of yesteryear, the new Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical Chronograph is inspired by the shapes of the 1970s British Royal Air Force chronographs. The watch employs a 40 mm satin-finished steel case, which is asymmetrical to protect the crown and pushers against shocks.
The dial is in pure vintage style, with white lacquered baton hands coated with beige SuperLuminova (as are the hour markers), a shade that recalls the patina of radioluminescence typical of vintage watches. The two additional counters, at 3 and 9 o'clock, indicate the chrono minutes and continuous seconds respectively. Protecting the dial is a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment.
The watch is powered by the H-51 calibre (ETA/Valjoux-based, 27 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour), a hand-wound mechanical movement with silicon balance spring and 60-hour power reserve. Water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres, the new Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical Chronograph is fitted with a brown leather strap with a pin buckle.
