Grand Seiko Sport Collection

In this 2022, the Grand Seiko GMT celebrates 20 years since the launch of the first model of the same name in the collection, while the chronograph version turns 15. To celebrate this double anniversary, Grand Seiko has unveiled two limited edition watches, amounting to 1,500 pieces for the GMT and 700 for the chronograph, respectively. The first mentioned uses a 44 mm steel case that is water-resistant to a pressure of 20 atmospheres. It adopts the Spring Drive calibre 9R16 (30 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 72-hour power reserve, resistant to magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/h), mechanical with automatic winding and guaranteeing an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per month. The movement is visible from the back side. The Grand Seiko chronograph version, on the other hand, employs a 43.5 mm case that is water-resistant to 10 atmospheres and a bracelet made of high-intensity titanium and is animated by the Spring Drive calibre 9R96 (50 jewels, 72-hour power reserve, resistant to magnetic fields up to 4,800 A/h), mechanical automatic and also guaranteeing an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per month. Very special in both models is the white 'jagged' dial, inspired by the snowy landscape of the mountains surrounding the studio in Shinshu, Japan, where these watches are made. The dial itself is protected in both versions by a curved, anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The prices are not exactly popular, but seem well in proportion to the quality of the materials and movements used, also bearing in mind that these are two limited editions. What do you think?
