We think the idea of IWC to offer two aviator models for father and son, one larger (46 millimetres in diameter), the other smaller (39 millimetres). The model for the father is a large aviator watch in platinum, equipped with the 51111 calibre, with a date display and 7-day power reserve indicated on the dial. The smaller version for the son largely corresponds in technical terms to the Mark XVI Aviator Watch, with its stainless steel case and automatic 30110-calibre movement. There are many aspects they have in common; both have the rhodium-plated dial, the bulbous crown of the early IWC aviator watches, and the crocodile leather strap with its characteristic steel rivets.
