Glashütte Original: PanoMaticLunar in forest green

The star of the new PanoMaticLunar is the dial, with its shades of green - more intense in the centre and black towards the edges - reminiscent of the coniferous forests surrounding the manufacture. It is made by the experts at the Glashütte Original dial manufacturer in Pforzheim: after initially coating the dial with a layer of galvanic nickel, the outer edge is sprayed with black lacquer to produce a dégradé effect. The entire surface is then coated with transparent green lacquer. The result of this craftsmanship is a special nuanced colour that makes each dial unique. The complex machining of the moon disc is also carried out in Pforzheim: a milling cutter is initially used to cut out two moons and give them their characteristic convex shape. The surfaces are then polished with a diamond cutter to give them a shine. The silver of the starry night sky, on the other hand, is the result of a complex galvanic procedure. The auxiliary dials for hours and minutes and the small seconds are placed along a vertical axis on the left-hand side of the dial, while the Panoramic Date is at 4 o'clock. White gold hands with SuperLuminova inlays create a shimmering contrast with the deep green of the dial. The sapphire crystal case back shows off the IWC-manufactured 90-02 calibre automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. With a polished and satin-finished steel case, the new timepiece is fitted with a brown nubuck leather strap to match the leather or steel bracelet. The PanoMaticLunar will be available in Glashütte Original Boutiques worldwide in June 2020.
