Franck Muller Skafander:
homage to the sea

Franck Muller's Skafander gets a makeover with more compact sizes and vibrant colour combinations of cases and straps, for new dynamic versions with a nautical style.

Downsizing, colour and a new personality. These, in short, are the innovations that distinguish the new generation of the home-grown sports car Franck Muller. After several redesigns (the model was born in 2018), the latest version of the Skafander has a case measuring 43 x 52 mm, and no longer 46 x 57 mm. A noticeable reduction, which responds to the growing demand for more comfortable and versatile watches, combined with the introduction of new bright colours - as many as eight combinations - which considerably broaden the audience of potential customers.

The overall look remains unchanged: the Skafander is always unmistakable, with all the graphics, aggressive lines and finishes that have characterised the collection since its inception and, above all, with its tonneau shape. In this more compact version, however, it renounces some of the features of a dive watch, such as the unidirectional inner rotating disc on the dial and its locking system. In addition to the brushed finish on natural titanium with a contrasting black bezel, there is a choice of cases with black or gold Pvd treatment, with a black bezel.

The bezel is secured by six screws that alternate with minute markers highlighted by a brushed finish. The crown is in natural titanium (as in the version photographed here, but on some variants it picks up the colour of the strap).

Applied to the black dial of Franck Muller's Skafander are the hour markers, with a SuperLuminova insert, while the flange is printed with the cardinal points. In the centre is a skeletonised component with the brand logo and name, reminiscent of the skeletonisation of previous models. The minute scale is highlighted by a touch of colour which on almost all versions echoes that of the rubber strap and the minute and seconds hand (the model photographed here has an orange minute hand).

New, more compact dimensions for the Skafander

Finely decorated movement components to Franck Muller standards.

Waterproof to 10 atmospheres, a good figure for a sports watch, the Skafander has a closed titanium back that conceals the heart of the watch, the MVT 2536-SCDT calibre (191 components, and 42 hours of power reserve) which, like all movements produced by Franck Muller, is finely decorated throughout.

The Skafander is a sporty, versatile and nautical-inspired watch, updated in line with current trends, but without losing anything in terms of recognisability.
