Miguel Rodríguez, owner of the Festina Lotus Group, has started the industrial production of a new competitively priced Swiss movement with Soprod. Soprod is a Festina Group company (the acquisition dates back to 2008) that already produces movements in Switzerland in the Franches Montagnes district and the Swiss-French department of Jura. Newton is the name of this movement that required three years of development and industrialisation by the Soprod team: the result is a reliable motor with high performance and aesthetic workmanship that can be customised according to the needs of the companies that request it. To ensure optimal reliability, even in the event of shocks or vibrations, Newton is equipped with the double-cone Incabloc shock absorber, while the cross bridge ensures that balance is maintained. In addition, it has been tested by Laboratoire Dubois, obtaining Chronofiable certification after passing a series of stringent tests, such as accelerated ageing, shock and magnetic field tests. Finally, Newton is distinguished by the fact that its balance is visible from a full 360° angle. This aesthetic choice meant developing a movement that was as symmetrical as possible along the 6-12 axis: the heart of this calibre is at 12 o'clock and the balance at 6 o'clock, a very useful arrangement for brands wishing to create "Open Heart" models.
