Following the success of last year's Only Watch charity auction, F.P. Journe presents the final version of the Astronomic Souveraine, a watch equipped with no fewer than 18 complications, including tourbillon, minute repeater, moon phase, mean time, sidereal time, sunrise and sunset time, second time zone, power reserve, equation of time and annual calendar. One of F.P.Journe's first creations inspired the project: a pocket watch with planetarium made in 1987 for a collector of scientific objects. This unique example with a Tourbillon regulator indicated mean times and sidereal hours, as well as the equation of time, a complete calendar and the power reserve. However, one must not anchor oneself in the past. The future astronomical watch had to be absolutely contemporary and possess a distinct personality: it would obtain its driving force from a double barrel, while the Tourbillon, with remontoir d'égalitéwould have ensured perfect isochronism. In the current model, ahe minutes are indicated in the centre of the white gold dial. The steel case has a diameter of 44 mm and houses the manual calibre 1619 (758 components, 21,600 vib/h, 68 jewels), guaranteeing a 40-hour power reserve. The F.P. Journe manufacture envisages the production of 4 or 5 pieces per year of this highly prized multi-complicated model.
