36,593, more than twice as many as in 2022. These are the readers who voted on our website orologioblog.net to elect the watches of the year. Watches, in the plural, because the laureates of our award are one for each of the thirteen categories into which it is divided, including the special Orologio Club award. The latter is awarded by the members to one of all the watches in the competition, while the other twelve categories compete with models grouped by type, from timepieces to complications, or by characteristics such as value for money or the savoir-faire they express.
With the month of November, the voting closed, and great is the satisfaction for the very high participation. As well as the pride we feel in carrying on the only prize awarded by the public of enthusiasts for almost thirty years. Because while it is true that the editorial staff proposes a carefully considered selection, the real judges are you, who read us every month and follow us daily on social media.
Speaking of social, another reason for satisfaction is the growth that the magazine has achieved over the past year, reaching more than 35,000 followers on Instagram, thanks to constantly new content, which I sometimes star in, despite a certain reluctance that I hope is not too noticeable.
Increased participation in the voting for Watch of the Year was certainly helped by the promotion done in September at VO'Clock Privé in Vicenzaoro (sponsor of the award) where, in a dedicated corner, we enthusiastically invited visitors to submit their votes online.
The winners, like a small watchmaking Oscar, will be revealed on the evening of the awards ceremony, 28 November, and published in the December/January issue. But if you follow us online, we will already report on the same day.
