Cyrus Watches, an independent Swiss maison based in Le Locle, after having explored watchmaking complications such as the moon phase, the alarm/alarm and the vertical tourbillon, now introduces a brand new timepiece to expand the Klepcys collection. This is the Klepcys GMT Retrograde, a watch with a newly developed automatic movement featuring a second time-zone display enclosed in a titanium case that is smaller than the models already in the catalogue. This new timepiece meets all the high quality standards of traditional watchmaking and bears the signature of Jean-François Mojon, a master watchmaker considered to be among the most capable and prolific of the 21st century. Watches with the GMT function allow two time zones to be displayed simultaneously: the time in the city of departure (home time) and the local time in the place of destination (local time). Traditionally referred to by the acronym GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), this function takes its name from the English city of Greenwich, crossed by the meridian '0'. The new Klepcys GMT Retrograde incorporates all the distinctive codes of the brand in both its avant-garde technology and its futuristic and "unconventional" style. All the hallmarks of Cyrus creations are thus found in this watch, namely the functional double crown, the 3D architecture of the dial, and the high quality of the decorations and finishing, all of which are combined with a reliable, newly-designed manufacture movement. Its ergonomic cushion-shaped case with elongated lugs, for the first time water-resistant to an astonishing 10 atmospheres, has been redimensioned in diameter, which is now 42 mm, as well as being thinner in thickness and extremely light on the wrist, as it is made of grade 5 titanium. Offered in three variants in polished natural titanium, two-tone with a black DLC titanium bezel, and black DLC titanium, it features the two characteristic crowns at 3 and 9 o'clock. The crown at 3 o'clock is easy to pull out and turn thanks to the rubber ring that wraps around it and improves grip, while the one at 9 o'clock is fixed and integrates the push-button for rapid corrections. The dial, with its original three-dimensional structure that has identified the Swiss watchmaker's timepieces since its inception, is the result of a superimposition of layers that give it depth and a strong stylistic identity. The first element is a transparent anti-reflective sapphire disc on which are placed the local hour markers with luminescent Arabic numerals. The minute flange has luminescent hour markers at intervals of 5. The transparency of the sapphire crystal makes the upper plate of the movement stand out, for which a refined ray fretwork has been designed. The result is a fascinating "squelette" effect that offers enthusiasts and collectors the pleasure of plunging into the heart of the movement and following the harmonious motion of the wheels and gears. In collaboration with his team of watchmaker-builders, Jean-François Mojon has developed the new CYR 708 manufacture automatic calibre. Conceived with a view to being robust, reliable and characterised by a design corresponding to the brand's philosophy, it has a ring-shaped balance beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 55 hours. Thanks to the sapphire crystal case back, it is also possible to admire the meticulous work of the skilled craftsmen who have decorated the bridges in anthracite grey NAC, with slightly curved spokes and a satin and "microbillé" finish. The new Klepcys GMT Retrograde is the ideal timepiece for globetrotters but also, more simply, for those who love fine watchmaking and are looking for an exclusive time accessory, made in only 50 pieces per version.
