This Historiador celebrates the history of Cuba and its thrilling 1957 Grand Prix. The race, inaugurated that very year, crowned five-time Formula One world champion Juan Manuel Fangio the winner in his Maserati 300S.
A limited edition of just 162 pieces, as many as the number of miles along which the race wound its way through the streets of Havana, the watch sports a vibrant shade of red on its dial (protected by domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal), the same colour as the Maserati 300S in which Fangio triumphed in Cuba in 1957.
Cream-coloured are the leaf-shaped hands, the two chrono hour and minute counters, at 6 and 3 o'clock respectively (as opposed to the one assigned to the continuous seconds display at 9 o'clock, tone-on-tone with the dial), and the telemetric scale surmounted by the tachymeter scale in black.
With a racing-style matt black leather strap combined with a personalised folding clasp and the 1957 de Cuba Grand Prix emblem on the back, the watch is powered by the automatic CyS 8099 calibre (ETA-Valjoux 7753 base, 30 mm diameter, 7.9 mm thick, 27 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour), with an engraved oscillating weight and 48-hour power reserve.
The case, 42 mm in diameter by 12 mm thick, is made of steel and is guaranteed water-resistant to a pressure of 3 atmospheres.
