Creativity and boldness are part of the identity of Corum from its origins. Watches like the Bubble or the Golden Bridge demonstrate the originality of the brand's design choices, which have often gone beyond convention. It is in this philosophy that the new Concept Watch fits: a skeleton tourbillon with an unconventional design.
The case is made of grade 5 recycled titanium, which makes it light, strong and sustainable, and interprets the round shape by developing it on the sides with a kind of fins (one of which also serves as protection for the oversized crown) that widen the development horizontally.
A construction that makes it appear larger than the actual 39.5 mm diameter. The dial is made of aventurine. Placed beneath the movement, it brings out its skeletal architecture and the flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock, which seems to float among the sparkling stone as if on a starry sky.
On the back, an original opening highlights the tourbillon, barrel and gear train. The plate and bridges are made of sapphire crystal to emphasise the three-dimensionality of the whole.
A number of engravings explain, in an unusual and creative manner like annotations in italics, the main functions of the watch components, including the position of the tourbillon, the 90-hour power reserve and the crown functions. The movement is the manual CO 374 calibre, running at 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The focus on sustainability is underlined by the choice of the strap, made of a blue recycled textile material that offers comfort and resistance, with Velcro fastening. Obviously, being a Concept Watch, this is not a model properly intended for sale and it will be interesting to see its possible future development on a series production. In any case, the estimated price is 420,000 Swiss francs.
