For a unique Bubble piece that seals its collaboration with the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based watch customisation specialist Label Noir, Corum has chosen a complicated version of its famous domed-glass model: the Central Tourbillon.
A complication that involved modifying the entire architecture of the movement and the dial: the peripheral indicators in place of the hands indicating the hours and minutes on two concentric rings do not steal the show from the tourbillon device cage in the centre, which is further emphasised by the lens effect of the Bubble's curved sapphire crystal.
This version with Label Noir focuses on minimalism, with an interplay of anthracite finishes and shades, with silvered details. The 47 mm case is in grade 5 titanium with black ADLC treatment on the bezel to emphasise chromatic continuity.
The only contrasts can be seen in the acid green of the two logos and the hour and minute indicators on the dial and the stitching on the matt black rubber strap. The movement is the automatic CO 406 calibre, with a 60-hour power reserve. The plate is also blackened by ADLC treatment.
Haute horlogerie and design in the Bubble 47 Central Tourbillon by Label Noir prove to be a very intriguing combination, confirming the winning formula implemented by Corum to maintain its 'breakthrough' profile in a watch like the Bubble, which has been unconventional since its inception in 2000, thanks also to its numerous collaborations with artists and creative people who, better than anyone else, know how to anticipate and, in many cases, create trends.
