Audemars Piguet takes the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collection a step further with the launch of five Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie timepieces, each featuring a unique customised enamel dial created by Anita Porchet and her atelier. These fine timepieces pay tribute to generations of artisans who have constantly used cutting-edge technology, without ever losing sight of their ancestral craftsmanship. Therefore, to celebrate the complexity and rarity of the Grande Sonnerie watches, Audemars Piguet collaborated with renowned Swiss enamel artisan Anita Porchet to create hand-crafted "Grand Feu" enamel dials. For the occasion, she designed a trilogy of enamel dials decorated with antique gold sequins ("paillons") dating back over a century and perfectly combining ancestral savoir-faire and contemporary design. "The Grande Sonnerie is the ultimate in chiming watches. As in an orchestra, the synchronisation of the components must be perfect to guarantee the automatic striking of the hours and quarters. It took four years to overcome the challenge of combining this traditional mechanism with our Supersonnerie technology, which we equipped with the Carillon function (3 gongs)," said Lucas Raggi, Director of Development Audemars Piguet The Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie mounts a new hand-wound movement, calibre 2956, which combines the traditional Grande Sonnerie complication with the patented Supersonnerie technology introduced by the Manufacture in 2015 with the Royal Oak Concept collection. This complex calibre, comprising 489 components, testifies to Audemars Piguet's uncompromising spirit. A Grande Sonnerie timepiece not only chimes the hours, quarters and minutes on demand like a traditional minute repeater would. Like a bell tower clock, it can also strike the hours and every quarter in a predefined manner, without any involvement on the part of the wearer. The presence of a carillon means that the Grande Sonnerie Supersonnerie is equipped with 3 gongs and 3 hammers instead of the 2 of a watch with a standard chime and therefore marks the quarters of an hour with 3 notes in succession (high, medium, low) instead of 2. In the Petite Sonnerie position, the watch only chimes the hours, while the automatic chime is deactivated in silent mode. As with the minute repeater mechanism, the chime can be activated by the wearer at any time. Hand-decorated to the finest detail using refined finishing techniques, Calibre 2956 combines tradition and innovation. In addition to its complex mechanism and enamel dial, the 41-mm 18-carat white gold case of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie surprises with contrasting details and refined finishing techniques usually found on calibres.
