Since its inception in 2019 the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet was distinguished by the richness of its construction details: the case, for example, looks round with a thin bezel, but is in fact a set of geometries.
Its architecture features an open bridge structure with hollow lugs, welded to the bezel that supports the octagonal case and plays with alternating satin and polished finishes. Hitherto only available in 41 and 42 mm versions, it is now also offered in a new 38 mm diameter genderless version for hours, minutes and date.
The new 38 mm models, in line with the collection's recent design evolution, feature shallower but more accentuated recesses on the crown, enhancing the geometric complexity of the rose gold case. The relief dial also benefits from the latest stylistic evolutions: decorated with hundreds of small holes moving from the centre outwards in a wave pattern, it manages to create unique colour effects.
The dials are available in purple or ivory, shades obtained with PVD treatment to preserve and enhance the depth of the relief motif and amplify the play of light. Facetted hour markers and hands are treated with a luminescent coating.
The thickness of the case is also smaller (9.6 mm) by virtue of the use of the automatic calibre 5900, first introduced in 2022 on certain references of the 37 mm Royal Oak: a 4 mm thin movement beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasting a power reserve of 60 hours.
The two versions come with an alligator strap with a 'large square scales' motif, matching the colour of the dial with a pink gold pin buckle. But they can also be combined with rubber-coated straps, lined with calfskin and embellished with a textile motif, in ivory or purple.
