To mark 35 years of the Promaster and 70 years of Godzilla, Citizen is launching four new models in the 'BJ' series, including two limited editions dedicated to the famous monster.
Born in 1989, the Promaster collection by Citizen has earned the trust of fans 'on the ground', thanks to a robust and reliable construction. The 'BJ' series, in particular, is probably the most important Promaster series in terms of structural robustness, so much so that it has earned the nickname, by enthusiasts, of "Ecozilla'. Nickname derived from the combination of the words 'Eco-Drive' (Citizen's well-known battery-free technology for recharging the movement via a natural or artificial light source) and 'Godzilla', the famous Japanese 'kaiju' (mysterious monster).
This year marks 35 years of Promaster and 70 years of Godzilla, the House of Tokyo launches four new Promasters in the 'BJ' series, two of which are dedicated to the famous monster. The latter are produced in limited edition, equal to 2,500 pieces for the model with a black dial and 3,000 for the one with a burgundy red dial. The dial, case and bezel display a 'camouflage' motif inspired by the scales with which Godzilla's skin is covered, while on the back here a footprint of the 'king of monsters'.
Monstrous' dimensions
The steel case of the Promaster Professional Diver 300 m measures an impressive 48.2 mm in diameter.
The starting point is the well-known Promaster Professional Diver 300 m, with a dark grey steel case measuring an impressive 48.2 mm in diameter by 18.5 mm thick. The strap is made of eco-friendly polyurethane, which contains materials derived from biomass. The quartz Eco-Drive calibre B873 movement guarantees a power reserve of no less than 6 months in power-saving mode. Speaking of Eco-Drive technology, it is noteworthy that it is the first brand in the watch industry to be certified as an 'Eco Mark' product by the Japanese Environmental Association (JEA).
Four new Promaster Professional Diver 300 m
Alongside the Promasters dedicated to Godzilla, Citizen is launching two more new models in the 'BJ' series.
As well as limited edition Collaboration Models dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Godzilla, Citizen also presents two Promaster Professional Diver 300m in non-limited production, better known as 'Ecozilla'. Again, the case is steel (this time blackened) 48.2 mm in diameter. The movement used is still the Eco-Drive B873 quartz calibre, with a six-month autonomy and an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month.
Water resistance is guaranteed up to 30 atmospheres of pressure and the polyurethane strap is fitted with an extension for wearing the watch over a wetsuit. The two models differ mainly in the dial, blue in the one case and totally luminescent in the other.
