The new Mille Miglia Race Edition 2022 from Chopard will be produced in 1,000 pieces for the steel version and 250 pieces for the steel and 18-carat rose gold version. The watch features a new livery, adopting the colours grey and blue, in tribute to the most prestigious of classic races on roads open to traffic, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Chopard has been a partner of the Miglia Miglia since 1988 and the 40th edition of the "most beautiful race in the world" (as the great Enzo Ferrari called it) took place from 15 to 18 June, following the route from Brescia to Rome and back.
The 44 mm case is paired with a blue ceramic bezel bearing the tachymeter scale. The grey satin-brushed dial features three additional guilloché-engraved counters with a filets circulaires motif, as well as a date window at 3 o'clock and the Mille Miglia logo, which is also featured on the case back. The steel and 18-carat ethical rose gold variant features a bezel, crown and pushers made of precious material. Blued hands and hourmarkers are given a luminescent treatment.
The movement used is mechanical with automatic winding (diameter 30.4 mm, thickness 7.9 mm, 240 components, 25 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 48-hour power reserve), based on a Valjoux 7750 and chronometer-certified by the Cosc. Water-resistant to 10 atmospheres, the new Chopard Mille Miglia Race Edition 2022 is combined with a brown perforated calfskin strap with blue lining and blue rubber back; the steel buckle is triple folding.
Prices : €7,890 (steel); €11,600 (steel/ethical rose gold).
