Elegance in Lucent Steel, the steel responsible for Chopard, for the L.U.C XPS Forest Green, which sports an unprecedented green sector dial.
The L.U.C. collection has always stood out for the elegance of its shapes and the refinement of its decorations, becoming a cornerstone of the style of the house Chopard. No exception the L.U.C XPS Forest Green model which, alongside the technical aspect, also finds in the ethical aspect, which is very much felt today, a reason to buy as well as an added value. The House in fact declined one of its most minimalist and refined watches in Lucent Steel, the responsible steel that Chopard currently makes from recycled materials 80% with the aim of reaching at least 90% by 2025.
A metal that is not only sustainable but also boasts a brightness comparable to gold and is also as dermo-compatible as surgical alloys. Ethical steel therefore comes into the picture when it comes to the bezel, case middle and peripheral ring of the case back of a 40 mm diameter case. Dimensions that are not too small but still do not detract from an overall well-balanced timepiece, thanks also to a thickness of only 7.2 mm, which makes it very comfortable on the wrist.
Chopard makes a new vintage-style sector dial
L.U.C XPS Forest Green: 'S' for small seconds.
Also characterising the L.U.C XPS Forest Green is a new dark green sector dial, a shade obtained by a PVD treatmentand finished with a soleil satin finish. Taken from the sector dials prevalent in the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s, this layout is experiencing new popularity today. And it gives Chopard's watch a very appealing vintage flavour.
The concentric circles, progressively sized from the peripheral seconds to the innermost minutes and hours, make it easy to read the time accurately, thanks also to the contrast of the ivory indices with the dark green background. Also, in the centre, there is the round small seconds counter, to which the 'S' in the XPS acronym refers. The movement is the automatic L.U.C 96.12-L calibre, traditionally identified by the initials paying homage to founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
Chopard L.U.C 96.12-L: Cosc-certified automatic
The movement of the L.U.C XPS Forest Green is an ultra-flat calibre.
Calibre 96.12-L can boast the official chronometer certificate issued by the Cosc. A guarantee of reliability and precision also thanks to the Twin Technology, patent involving the use of two superimposed barrels to extend the autonomy to a guaranteed maximum of 65 hours.
A particularly useful solution when applied to a calibre only 3.3 mm thick, which has allowed the XPS Forest Green to fall into the 'extra-slim' category. The strap is in hand-stitched brown calfskin leather with écru stitching.
