Chanel is back on the Monsieur theme, and more specifically on the Superleggera variant, offering a new limited edition version of just 100 pieces called Intense Black Edition.
A 42 mm case in matt black ceramic (case middle and bezel) and steel (back and crown), with the addition of a black ADLC coating. This is precisely the main difference between the new Monsieur Superleggera, available in only 100 examples, and the same model presented by Chanel in 2021.
The style of the dial, inspired by racing car tachometers, cretrograde minutes indicated on a 240-degree arc by a hand that instantaneously returns to zero after reaching the 60th minute.
Monsieur de Chanel Superleggera: original style
With a dial design reminiscent of sports car speedometers, the Monsieur Superleggera is highly recognisable.
On the dial of the Monsieur de Chanel Superleggera Black Intense Edition, At 6 is the jumping hour window, forged in the emblematic shape of the octagon, which allows an instantaneous change of the time every 60 minutes. Note the partially visible movement on the dial side, as well as the finishes that characterise the latter, clous de Paris and concentric circles for the small seconds dial.
Another variation on the theme from the 2021 model is the golden colour, instead of red, of the Superleggera signature just below the Chanel logo at 12 o'clock, recalling one of Italy's greatest automotive excellencies. The mechanics do not change, with the Calibre 1 (28,800 vibrations per hour, 5.5 mm thick, double barrel), manufacture and hand-wound, which ensures a 72-hour autonomy. The movement is visible through the sapphire glass back. The watch is combined with a black nylon strap, with calfskin lining and blackened steel triple folding clasp. Finally, water resistance is guaranteed up to 3 atmospheres of pressure.
