Bulova celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 15 moon landing on August 2nd 1971 with the Lunar Pilot chronograph inspired by the original model worn by the mission commander but updated with a 45 mm grade 5 titanium case. It features a number of gold-coloured details, including a case back with a relief drawing of an astronaut on the lunar surface and an indication of the name and date of the expedition, as well as the limited edition number (5,000 pieces available). Through the blue anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the dark grey dial, contrasting counters can be seen, along with the original Bulova logo at 12 o'clock. Equipped with a soft leather strap, also in grey, it is powered by a high-frequency quartz movement (262 kHz), which is a Bulova patent. The Lunar Pilot 50th Anniversary L.E. comes in a special box with a book on the history of the timepiece and a commemorative NASA coin with the date of the mission (DOM), 08.02.1971.
