Bulgari continues to show off its expertise in experimenting with materials. After titanium, platinum, pink and yellow gold, ceramic and tantalum, Octo Finissimo now sports an unusual mix, already experimented by the Roman Maison in 1993. It is hi-tech anthracite carbon, embellished with touches of gold, to once again define contemporary and bold elegance in the Bulgari style.
Light, robust and with an attractive matt-finish variegated texture, carbon defines the case, bracelet and dial, contrasting pleasingly with the warm, luminous nuance of gold. Which is used on the crown with ceramic insert and on the plating of the hour markers and hands.
Octo CarbonGold debuts in Automatic and Perpetual Calendar versions. The material specifications and increased water resistance (100 metres) translate into a slightly thicker profile of the 40 mm case compared to previous versions (6.9 mm for the Automatic, 7.6 mm for the Perpetual).
Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic is equipped with the BVL 138 calibre, 2.23 mm thick, with a small seconds function and 60-hour power reserve. The Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar is equipped with the BVL 305 calibre (derived from the 138), the thinnest movement on the market for this type, with a thickness of 2.75 mm (in 2021, it represented Bulgari's seventh ultra-thin watchmaking record). The date and leap year have a retrograde display. In both versions, beautiful and fascinating is the contrast visible on the sapphire glass back side closed by eight gold screws. 
The dark carbon surface enhances the lustre of the rose gold bridges decorated with côtes de Genève and the off-centre micro-rotor in rose gold-plated platinum. Since its inception, the idea behind the Octo Finissimo has been to bring the ultra-thin watch into the 21st century. It is aesthetic research, but with technical expertise, that drives this collection, and CarbonGold gives it an even more modern appeal, representing Bulgari's own stylistic contemporaneity with an unprecedented style.
