Re-launched this year, the Bulgari Aluminium becomes part of a philanthropic initiative resulting from the collaboration between the brand and the Italian Air Force. The special Bulgari Aluminium Tricolore series will support three Italian children's hospitals: the proceeds from the sale of the first 50 exclusive and numbered watches will be donated entirely by Bulgari to the "Un dono dal cielo" project, a fundraising initiative launched by the Italian Air Force in support of the Gaslini Hospital in Genoa, the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome and the Santobono Pausilipon Hospital in Naples. The second part of the series, totalling 1,000 examples, will be available on the international market from December 2020.
It is no coincidence that this project came about at a time of great difficulty for our country, for which Bulgari has been actively involved in various fields, even offering its support to the Spallanzani Hospital in Rome and Oxford University with the donation of a state-of-the-art microscope. The Italian Air Force with its Frecce Tricolori aerobatic patrol also provided all its forces to combat the emergency. The Frecce Tricolori, in particular, played an important role, flying over the entire country as part of an ideal 'embrace' that involved all the regional capitals.
11 exclusive examples of the Aluminium Tricolour have been given their own certificate, with an engraving dedicated to the identifiers of the same number of aircraft that make up the team, from Pony 0 to Pony 10. The Pony 0, symbolically donated to the Air Force, was presented yesterday in Rome to Lieutenant Colonel Gaetano Farina, Commander of the Frecce Tricolori by Lelio Gavazza, Bvlgari Executive Vice President Sales&Retail. The watch will be housed in the museum area of the Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale in Rivolto (Udine). Together with Pony 1, dedicated to the aircraft of the formation leader, and Pony 10, of the Frecce Tricolori soloist, they will be auctioned at Christie's Italia in December to contribute to the solidarity initiative.
"Bvlgari has received a great deal from Italy, and it is only right that it in turn should give something back to the country," said Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of the Bvlgari Group, emphasising the importance of the role played by the fleet, a true vehicle of the national cohesion that has been shaken by the pandemic crisis.
