Breva - Génie 01

The Génie 01 from Geneva-based Breva is the first watch to provide an altimeter, atmospheric pressure and power reserve display (as well as hours and minutes, of course) thanks to the use of a fully mechanical movement developed for Breva by Jean-François Mojon/Chronode. On the case, there are three crowns, two on the right side and one at 9 o'clock. The latter is used to wind the movement and set the time. The one at 2 is used to set the barometric scale, while the button coaxial to it is used to set the altimeter scale. The one at 4, on the other hand, can only be turned by 90* in order to open/close a valve. This valve, when open, allows a small amount of air to equalise the air pressure inside and outside the case. On the dial, at about 4 o'clock, we then find an indicator reading 'Sealed', which warns us if the valve has been left open. Also on the dial, the hour and minute display is off-centre at 8 o'clock, via a smoked sapphire sub-dial and skeletonised, blackened hands. At 5 o'clock is the power-reserve indicator, the altimeter indication takes place along a band running from 9 to 1, while the atmospheric pressure indication takes place in another sub-dial positioned at 2 o'clock. The movement used (405 components, 46 jewels, 65-hour power reserve) is mechanical with manual winding. Breva's Génie 01 is offered in a limited edition of 55 pieces with a 44.7-millimetre case in white gold and the same number in pink gold.
