Breitling sponsored the docufilm 'Io, Tevere - Le radici del mare' (I, Tiber - The roots of the sea), starring Roberto D'Amico, a famous Italian surfer, and the director and documentary filmmaker Marco Spinelli. The aim of this project is to compare the beauties and shortcomings of one of Italy's most important rivers, while offering food for thought on the need to implement more sustainable lifestyles.
The documentary, produced by FACE and sponsored by Breitling with Flowe and Capotaxi, is part of the 'Tiber Project'. This initiative was created with the aim of disseminating, raising awareness and promoting environmentalist culture starting from schools, through the story of an evocative journey over 400 km long, from the source of Monte Fumaiolo to its mouth in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
During this particular trip, the two activists collected quintals of rubbish, as well as sharing the many testimonies of those who experience the Tiber River on a daily basis, using simple and direct language.
The documentary film, which lasts approximately 30 minutes, is therefore an excellent tool for raising public awareness of the theme of sustainability, one of Breitling's core values, which is also well illustrated in the 'Sustainability Mission Report' published last year. This report in fact illustrates the concrete actions taken by the brand in the field of sustainability, from the launch of the first traceable watch to the elimination of plastic waste from all production processes. As well as the use of eco-friendly nylon for the Econyl straps, made in collaboration with the Outerknown clothing brand, to name but a few.
