Breitling has launched a series of limited edition watches and a new squad, dedicated to the unions and federations that make up the Six Nations of Rugby, namely England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France and Italy. The kick-off of the Guinness Six Nations took place on 4 February, marking Breitling's second season as Official Chronometer of the famous rugby competition.
The Swiss watchmaker has therefore presented Chronomat Six Nations, a collection that includes a watch dedicated to each participating national team, with production limited to 150 pieces each.
"As Breitling's multifunctional, no-holds-barred sports watch, the Chronomat Six Nations is the ideal match for the fast and fearless way of rugby," said Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. All the watches in the collection, with their 42 mm steel cases, feature the typical Chronomat characteristics: raised quarter-circles, the "onion" crown, a multi-level dial with a date display at 6 o'clock and the Rouleaux bracelet.
The movement used is the IWC-manufactured Breitling Calibre 01 (7.2 mm thick, 346 components, 28,800 vib/h, column wheel, vertical coupling, power reserve of approximately 70 hours, Cosc chronometer), mechanical with automatic winding and visible from the back, thanks to the adoption of a sapphire glass porthole.
Each model is characterised by a dial bearing the specific colours of the individual team, in addition to the team logo which is located at 9 o'clock on the dial and on the aforementioned case back.
