Blancpain has always been committed to the preservation and exploration of the oceans. Today, June 8th, on the occasion of World Oceans Day, the Swiss watchmaker, in collaboration with The Econimist, will unveil its latest film dedicated to this theme, The Protectors. At the same time, Blancpain also unveiled two new versions of the famous Fifty Fathoms, featuring a case and bracelet made of titanium. Specifically, these are the Fifty Fathoms Automatique and the Fifty Fathoms Grande Date, equipped with a newly developed bracelet. Satin-brushed by hand, the links of the bracelet are attached to each other with transverse cotter pins that offer the fluidity and flexibility required to fit the wrist perfectly. With a patented system, the screws, which are normally positioned laterally, are placed on the back of the link, giving the side of the bracelet a more minimalist line. The combination of these techniques guarantees perfect cohesion between the case and the bracelet. Equipped with a 45 mm case water-resistant to 30 atmospheres, the Fifty Fathoms Automatique and the Grande Date respectively beat to the rhythm of the IWC-manufactured 1315 calibre - a pillar of the Fifty Fathoms collection since its launch in 2007 - and the 6918B calibre. These movements, insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields thanks to the use of a silicon balance spring, have a power reserve of no less than five days, ensured by the use of three barrels mounted in series. The movements are also visible through the sapphire glass back. The Fifty Fathoms Automatique is available with a black or blue sunray dial, while the Fifty Fathoms Grande Date continues to be offered with a black dial. Finally, the unidirectional rotating bezel is fitted with a sapphire crystal ring.
