The Biver Automatique is the brand's first automatic watch with three hands and continues the brand's aim of focusing on high-end luxury.
The debut of the brand Biverin 2023, was with a complex watch of the highest horology; the Carillon Tourbillon Minute Repeater. Jean-Claude Biver, a key figure in watchmaking, decided after almost 50 years of a great career to found with his son Pierre 'a small family brand, for passionate people and very exclusive watches'. Their first work combined classic design codes, distinctive character and a high-quality movement. Now, with the Automatique model, the Maison returns to the essentiality of watchmaking, offering its first automatic model with three hands: hours, minutes and seconds only.
"A watch that only shows hours, minutes and seconds represents the most essential form of our art. Distilling complexity down to its purest and simplest embodiment allows for a unique work of art, expressed with absolute discipline and perfection', commented Jean-Claude Biver.
A simple watch but only in appearance: the dials in solid white or pink gold, matching the metal of the case (platinum or pink gold), feature a wealth of hand-applied finishes. The applied indexes, which create a depth effect, and the gold gladius hands have an anthracite finish for better legibility. The overall design is in line with the sophisticated aesthetic codes introduced with the Carillon Tourbillon Minute Repeater.
Biver's first 'basic' gauge
A new proprietary automatic movement developed and produced with Dubois Dépraz.
At the heart of the Automatique is the JCB-003 calibre, an automatic movement with a gold micro-rotor developed in collaboration with Dubois Dépraz, with its elaborate architecture and rich decoration, which forms the basis for future developments of the brand. The second hand resetting mechanism guarantees a second's accuracy in setting the time. "The JCB-003 Calibre is the pillar on which we are building the Biver brand," says co-founder Pierre Biver.
“From the beginning, it was designed with a focus on high performance and sophisticated decoration. Our approach reflects a deep appreciation for the architecture of movement and the desire to strike a balance between the best of watchmaking's past, present and future. The creation of this calibre is the first step in creating the hallmark of Biver watchmaking.
