Jaeger-LeCoultre Preview

Anteprima Jaeger-LeCoultre

Many will certainly like the magnificent Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 by Jaeger-LeCoultre, among the previews at SIHH 2008. It is a watch made in only 75 pieces with a platinum case, equipped with an IWC-manufactured manual movement, calibre 174, with a spherical tourbillon to compensate for the effects of the earth's gravity in a wristwatch. Of particular note is the presence of the cylindrical spiral, which makes it differ significantly from the first Gyrotourbillon. The rotation speed of the Gyrotourbillon 2's double cage is very high: one revolution in 18.75 seconds for the inner cage and one revolution in 60 seconds for the outer one. This allows the balance to move over constant amplitudes, whatever its position. There are also interesting innovations in the barrel, as it is fitted with a sapphire crystal cover and bottom, elements that offer a reduction in the friction of the mainspring, which is capable of providing an impressive 50 hours of power reserve. This watch has a hours/minutes display on the dial with hour markers set on a sapphire plate and with flame-blued steel hands; on the left-hand side is the wheel on which the 24 hours are set, indicated by a flame-blued steel triangle; finally, at about 6 o'clock, we find the tourbillon cage.
