Aethalia is one of the flagships of the Locman X project: an elegant collection, with manufactured movements. Made in Italy of course...
In the Locman X project, the brand includes its Made in Italy collections with manufactured movements, demonstrating its intention to expand its product range by introducing models in the luxury segment without neglecting the core of its offering and keeping faith with its identity. We have seen this with Tenth Canto and we also see this in the elegant Aethalia, a collection named after the ancient name of the island of Elba, home of Locmanwhich is based in Marina di Campo. And in this, too, the classical reminiscences are all there.
Why Aethalia (from 'aithalos', spark) was the name given to the island by Greek navigators in reference to the glittering of the countless Etruscan furnaces for processing the mineral wealth in Elba's subsoil. The inhabitants of the island gave the same name to the first ferry in the 1950s with direct access for cars for connections to Tuscany.
Locman has come up with a case design with large elongated lugs
Aethalia is available in titanium or gold.
Aethalia has a 40 mm case in three parts: screw-down bezel, case middle and back. Its architecture plays on ergonomic shapes and a design that draws attention to the large lugs that extend downwards. Ensuring wearing comfort is their curvature that follows the lines of the wrist. Limpermeability is 10 atmospheresalso thanks to the quadruple internal o-ring seal on the crown. In addition to the grade 3 titanium versions, Locman also offers a more precious 18-carat gold variant.
Attention to detail and workmanship can also be found on the sandblast enamelled dial, with central guilloché work. It is available with a handcrafted natural Italian leather strap or a biocompatible titanium bracelet.
Locman Aethalia: a project Made in Italy
Aethalia's Oisa 29-50 calibre is an Italian-made movement.
Aethalia's movement is the hand-wound Oisa 29-50 Cinque Ponti calibre, made in the Oisa 1937 manufacture in Albuzzano (Pavia). Thanks to a collaboration with Locman, the historic Italian movement manufacturer is back in business and has created a contemporary version of a 1960s calibre that has become the heart of the brand's high-end models. A movement with a handmade côtes de Genève on the bridges and a perlage decoration on the plate, which can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. Charging autonomy is guaranteed for up to 60 hours.
