Plastiki and IWC

On 26 July, after 130 days on the high seas, the boat Plastiki triumphantly sailed into Sydney Harbour. David de Rothschild, ecological explorer, and the team of the organisation Adventure Ecology crossed the Pacific Ocean starting from San Francisco and covering some 8000 nautical miles. The Plastiki expedition drew attention to the traces that humanity thoughtlessly leaves behind in nature. David de Rothschild put his vision of a society that treats waste as a resource into practice, using 12,500 recycled plastic bottles to construct the hull of his boat, and even using an extraordinarily recyclable and hitherto relatively unknown high-tech fabric as the material used in the hull's superstructure. The pioneering Plastiki, with its solar panels, wind turbines and bicycle generators for generating electricity, aims for a smart, solution-oriented approach to the disposal of waste that burdens the environment. The company's official partner was Maison IWCCO2-neutral company. During the journey, the members of the expedition wore the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition 'Adventure Ecology' on their wrists. A platinum specimen of this model will now be sold at auction on the website www.theplastiki.com.
