A. Lange & Söhne,
30 years of Lange 1

Since 1994 it has been the icon of A. Lange & Söhne. Four limited editions celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Lange 1 with two brand new colour combinations.

A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 and Little Lange 1

Perfect example of the aesthetic and constructive continuity of the A. Lange & Söhnethe Lange 1 is the model with which the company re-entered the haute horlogerie market in 1994 after a forced hiatus of fifty years in the period between the Second World War and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Among its distinguishing features stood out, then as now, the patented large date display, which was aesthetically related to the famous five-minute clock of the Semper Opera in Dresden, and the unconventional and asymmetrical arrangement of the indications, which have made it one of the most sought-after models by collectors and enthusiasts. Since then it has become an evergreen, essentially unchanged in appearance, despite numerous evolutions.

A. Lange & Söhne Little 1 Grande Datario

In the 30th anniversary year, the company is launching four new limited series. Two versions of the Lange 1 in 300 pieces each, in platinum with a black onyx dial and in rose gold with a blue 925 silver dial, and two versions of the Little Lange 1 of 150 pieces each, in the same combination of colours and materials.

Two new colour combinations for the A. Lange & Söhne icon

The asymmetrical architecture of Lange 1 follows the rules of the Golden Section.

Simplicity and rigour of construction are at the heart of the case of the Lange 1 (38.5 millimetres in diameter), characterised by a clean and essential design. On the left side is the date corrector button, replaced in the Little Lange 1 (36.8 millimetres) by a corrector recessed in the case middle.

Onyx had never before been used by Lange and it succeeds in giving great prominence to the dial with its unmistakable charm of off-centre hours. A nice contrast is provided by the rose gold and blue dial versions, colours already used by Lange but never before in combination.

The large date display: a distinctive Lange element

A Lange manufacture calibre with a date mechanism with discs jumping at exactly midnight.

The Lange 1 and Little Lange 1 share the same movement: the manual calibre L121.1, introduced in 2015 with the restyling of this model. The big date display jumps at exactly midnight, after accumulating energy for several hours, very slowly.

It oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and boasts a 72-hour power reserve, thanks to the presence of a double barrel.
