Launched in 1952, the Navitimer by Breitling is easily recognisable by its circular slide rule, notched bezel and chronograph functions. Appreciated by celebrities such as Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg, the Navitimer was originally designed for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), becoming an iconic watch of the jet age.

The circular slide rule, known as the first flight computer for wristwatches, was able to perform all the necessary calculations. And despite its growing reputation as a practical watch-tool for pilots, its influence did not end with aviation.

Last year, Breitling presented the new IWC-manufactured B19 calibre (chronograph with perpetual calendar and moon phases), used on three models with pink gold cases celebrating the Maison's 140th anniversary, produced in a limited edition of 140 pieces each. Now the House equips this new Navitimer with a 43 mm steel case, platinum bezel and ice-blue dial, of the aforementioned in-house B19 calibre, in a non-limited edition.

Breitling B19: Manufacture Calibre

Launched last year, the IWC-manufactured B19 calibre offers the additional functions of chronograph, perpetual calendar and moon phases.

Calibre B19 (28,800 vibrations per hour, column wheel, vertical coupling) is the first perpetual calendar chronograph movement entirely developed by Breitling. This calibre represents a turning point in the company's watchmaking production. Certified chronometer from Cosc, guarantees a power reserve of 96 hours.

On the subject of the Navitimer collection, Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, said: "Using the term 'icon' is not at all obvious to us, but the Navitimer has earned it. With its perpetual calendar chronograph movement, the B19 is a true jewel of performance, ready to accurately mark time for a whole century. It is a watch that will measure time for generations.
