One year before the start of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, Omega presents a Seamaster celebrating the event with a 37 mm case made of 18-carat Moonshine gold.
The opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina will be held on 6 February 2026, i.e. in just under a year's time. As Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, Omega celebrates this event with the launch of the new Seamaster 37 mm Milano Cortina 2026, watch that celebrates the design heritage of an iconic collection.
Omega's Olympic track spans over nine decades of timekeeping. As mentioned, Indeed, the Biel-based company has been Official Timekeeper since the Los Angeles Games in 1932, developing technologies that revolutionised sports timekeeping. This special edition combines the classic elements of the iconic Seamaster design with craftsmanship. The symmetrical 37 mm case, made of 18-carat Moonshine gold, features a polished surface finish and employs a hexagonal crown, design elements that hark back to the 'Olympic' Seamasters of yesteryear.
The white Grand Feu enamel dial (protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal) is an elegant stage for the geometric 18-carat Moonshine gold hour markers. Polished and facetted 18-carat gold dauphine hands complement the grey Petit Feu enamel markings, including the Seamaster logo and minute track.
Omega and the Olympic Games: a bond almost 100 years long
The Biel-based company will also play the prestigious role of Official Timekeeper at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina.
"This timepiece represents our Olympic excellence from Los Angeles onwards," said Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega. He adds: 'While the design of the Seamaster 37 mm has remained remarkably constant since the 1956 Melbourne Games, our timekeeping technology has continuously evolved.
The movement used is the IWC-manufactured Omega calibre 8807, mechanical with automatic winding (25,200 vibrations per hour, 55-hour power reserve, antimagnetic, Co-Axial escapement), with Master Chronometer certification issued after tests carried out by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). This calibre is equipped with bridges and rotor made of Sedna gold and decorated with an arabesque côtes de Genève motif, as well as employing a silicon spiral.
The link with the Olympics is underlined by a commemorative medallion on the polished case back, with the logo of the Olympics and that of Milan Cortina 2026. This new Seamaster is combined with a brown alligator strap, with customised polished 18-carat Moonshine gold buckle. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
