Sporty/chic with a well-defined character: Cubitus introduces a new registered design and debuts in three versions for now, including a model with the large instantaneous date combined with six patent applications.
In the catalogue Patek Philippe enters a new name: Cubitus. After 27 years since the Aquanaut, the House is launching a new sporty/chic collection, with models in steel and steel/gold. The collection is based on the design of the shaped case with rounded corners, in a geometric play combining square, circle and octagon. A registered design, which finds reminiscences in the quadrangular cases produced by Patek especially during the Art Deco period.
"For a long time, in fact for as long as I can remember, I wanted a square watch in the collection," said President Thierry Stern, "But in my idea it had to be subtle (...) and it had to be a watch that had all the DNA of Patek Philippe. And indeed, The Cubitus solotempo, at 45 mm diagonal, is just 8.3 mm thick, rising to 9.6 mm for the complicated model, making him a very elegant sportsman. At ease even under a shirt cuff.
Patek Philippe Cubitus: big instant date
The Cubitus Ref. 5822P displays the day, moon phase and large instantaneous date at 12 o'clock.
New to the collection is the large instantaneous date, which stands at 12 o'clock on Ref. 5822P, with day of the week and moon phase (automatic calibre 240 PS CI J LU), realised with platinum case. A new complicated mechanism, which for the first time introduces the instantaneous jumping of tens and units of the double date.
Posting is provided by two coplanar discs in a window at 12 o'clock, which can be quickly updated at any time by means of a button. The date click at midnight occurs in just 18 milliseconds, with a characteristic 'click'. Six patents also ensure energy management for instantaneous jumping, the perfect alignment of the large date figures and the stability of the latter even in the event of shocks. The strap is made of navy blue composite material with a textile pattern. Price: 89,099 euros.

The two time-only versions are available in steel and rose gold with a blue soleil dial (€61,776) and in steel with an olive green soleil dial (€41,580). In this case, the movement is the automatic calibre 26-330 S C.
The metal bracelets are equipped with a locking extension system and a patented Patek Philippe folding clasp with four independent attachment points that guarantee comfort and safety.
