French brand Le Forban Sécurité Mer launches a new vintage-inspired diver with a very interesting price/quality ratio.
Since its rebirth in 2019 at the behest of entrepreneur and former journalist Jean-Sébastien Coste, Le Forban Sécurité Mer focused on the recovery of its historical heritage with two models very similar to the 1970s originals. The new reference, called La Rochelaiseis also inspired by the canons of the past, but the end result is completely unprecedented.
It is a diver with a 39 mm diameter cushion case and just 11.4 thick, resistant to a pressure of 15 atmosphereswith box-shaped sapphire crystal and rotating flange via the crown at 2 o'clock.
The movement is the Miyota 9039 mechanical self-winding calibre, with 28,800 vibrations per hour and 42 hours of power reserve. The dial with soleil finish is available in grey, green or blue. For all the price is 740 eurowith 'tropic' silicone strap, or 790 euro for versions with a seven-link steel bracelet.
Le Forban Securité Mer: a tradition going back over 50 years
The company produces three different diver models, named La Rochelaise, Malouine and Brestoise.
The history of the Le Forban Sécurité Mer brand began in 1969, at the height of the diving boom, when it achieved a very good reputation among enthusiasts across the Alps, eventually becoming a supplier to the Marine Nationale. The first two models of the reborn Le Forban (called Malouine and Brestoise) are an explicit homage to the professional references of that period.
While the new La Rochelaise can be considered a sporty-chic watch, especially in the version with a steel bracelet, thanks to the thickness and colours chosen for the dial.
