While the technical features remain unchanged, a special 'Tudor blue' dial is reserved for the Black Bay Chrono edition available exclusively in the brand's boutiques.
The first Black Bay Chrono of 2017 was a nice mix of two important legacies of Tudor; that of diving watches produced in the 1950s and the sports chronographs of the 1970s. The first Tudor chronograph of 1970 was the Oysterdate, characterised by bright colours, pentagonal hour markers, 45-minute counter and date window at 6 o'clock. The new boutique-exclusive version continues the brand's tradition of integrating blue dials of different hues to all the lines in its collection. Particularly inspiring models include the blue Submariner 'Snowflake' and the blue Oyster Date 'Montecarlo', which is very popular with collectors.
In the Black Bay Chrono 'Blue', the new blue dial with a sunbrushed satin finish features contrasting silver-plated counters. The same shade is also used for the anodised aluminium bezel with tachymeter scale. In the 41 mm diameter steel case, water-resistant to 200 metres, we find the essential features of the Black Bay: satin and polished finish, bevelled lugs, push-button design inspired by the first generation of Tudor chronographs, Snowflake hands.
Tudor Calibre MT5813: Cosc-certified accuracy beyond standards
The essence of Black Bay for a 'blue Tudor' version chronograph.
Il movement, the Cosc-certified automatic MT5813 calibre, is based on Breitling's B01 calibre optimised with an in-house developed regulating organ and set to even stricter parameters than the chronometric standardsThis results in an average deviation of -2 to +4 seconds per day (compared to -4, +6 for the Cosc). All this translates into one of the best quality/price ratios in Swiss Made.
It is an integrated chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical coupling and a 70-hour power reserve. The one-piece tungsten rotor is satin-finished with sandblasted details, while the bridges and mainplate have alternating sandblasted and polished surfaces and laser decoration.
