Green, terracotta and anthracite grey: three new dial colours for the Longines Legend Diver in the 39 mm version.
In 1959 Longines developed a watch specifically designed for underwater exploration, with a Super-Compressor case, shaped sapphire crystal, interior rotating bezel and screw-down double crown. The Legend Diver, updated over the years, is still one of the brand's top sporting models, characterised by a vintage style revisited in a modern key. Last year, the company introduced, as a bridge between the 42 mm and the more feminine 36 mm versions, a compact 39 mm variant without a date display, just like the original '59 model, with lacquered, blue and black dial These are now joined by three new shades: green, terracotta and anthracite grey.
The bidirectional rotating inner bezel is activated by the crown at 2 o'clock and matches the colour of the dial, is the main distinguishing feature of the Legend Diver, yesterday as today: a system designed to prevent accidental shocks (very frequent during diving) from altering the minute count and creating major safety problems.
The Legend Diver from Longines focuses more and more on colour
Colourful lacquered dials extend the choice of Longines' elegant diver in the 39 mm version.
The colourful lacquered dials of the Legend Diver by Longines are protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal with a black metallic coating. The geometric and embossed Arabic indices at the quarters are coated with SuperLuminova for optimal legibility, as are the hands. The central seconds sphere, with its luminescent tip, allows its correct functioning to be verified even in the dark.
The 39 mm steel case features alternating polished and satin finishes to lend a certain classical elegance to a watch that is nonetheless sporty in its own right. It is in fact waterproof up to 300 metres and certified according to ISO 6425. The screw-down case back is engraved with the image of a diver.
