Since 2011, the MP collection has represented the pinnacle of the watchmaking art of Hublot in every respect. Over the years, various models have been created, all produced in very limited series and outside the most conventional watchmaking schemes. This is because at the basis of their conception and design is the utmost freedom of expression. The latest chapter in the series is the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium, produced in only 50 pieces.
The watch has no dial, hands or oscillating weight, but a roller display, a circular power reserve, with a two-tone red and green disc coaxial to the hours and minutes, and a tourbillon inclined at 35°. The time is read from top to bottom: the hours, minutes, power reserve and finally the seconds, indicated on the one-piece aluminium tourbillon cage.
A patent application has been filed for the movement, the automatic calibre HUB9013. Its winding system is based on two white gold blocks that slide on a vertical axis on two racks equipped with a shock-absorber system, winding the movement bidirectionally. Price275,000 euro.
Hublot's great savoir-faire in researching and developing the colouring of innovative materials finds one of its expressions in Saxem. A material with exceptional qualities of hardness and brilliance, as resistant as sapphire but with greater luminosity. After experimenting with the colours yellow and emerald, it is now the turn of green, which finds its form in the 42 mm case of the Big Bang Unico Green Saxem, of which only 100 pieces are available.
The visual effect is very striking: the material does not reflect light, but still creates the impression of emitting it. The movement, the automatic HUB1280 Unico 2 calibre with flyback function, features a tungsten oscillating weight, visible through the porthole in the case back. Price121,000 euro.
