The inspiration is the hues of autumn twilight on Mount Iwate: the same peak that is visible from the Shizukuishi Studio, where Grand Seiko mechanical watches are made.
The finely textured dial features an interplay of shades between grey and dark green, which change depending on how the light shines. Colours reminiscent of the colour variety that envelops the mountain slopes at sunset, when the deep green of the forest mixes with the yellow, red and orange of autumn leaves. The applied, gold-plated Grand Seiko logo recalls the glow of the moon that appears just after sunset and becomes more and more intense.
The Heritage SBGW303 timepiece represents a new interpretation of the 44GS from 1967. It is an iconic model that still dictates the style of the Grand Seiko collections, featuring design elements such as the shape and finish of the indices and hands, designed to reflect even the smallest ray of light, creating a sharp, clear and unique aesthetic. Or like the perfectly smooth surfaces polished using the Zaratsu technique, which highlights that play of light and shadow characteristic of Japanese tradition.
