One can expect great things from the small brand Ataelier Haute Complication, founded in 2022 by Vladimir Victor Négault, an architect with a passion for watchmaking. Its first model, in fact, proposes a brand new complication, created in total autonomy. We are talking about the Dual Time watch, with a 41 mm steel case and an intuitive display thanks to a rotating disc at the top of the dial, which indicates the home time over a 12-hour period.
The pointer is flanked by a small sun for daytime hours and a moon for night-time hours. Local time, on the other hand, is indicated by the central dial with its classic hands.
The movement used, made of silver, is the hand-wound Architecture Mécanique N°1 calibre (21,600 vibrations per hour, 45-hour power reserve and 187 components).
"My goal was to create a brand based on new, useful but original complications," explains Négault. "I also wanted a strong visual identity for my entire collection." Aim achieved at the first attempt, judging by the Dual Time, which has already sold out and will soon be joined by other creations.
"First of all the Striking Tourbillon, with a half-hour strike, also equipped with a silent mode. And then the Full Perpetual Weekly Calendar, with an indication of the week of the year, also known as the company calendar. In the medium term, I am working on two models with hour, half-hour and quarter-hour repeaters'.
Distribution is through a small network of distributors in the UK, US and Hong Kong, or by contacting the brand directly, or on the website www.thelimitededition.co.uk. Website: www.ataelier.ch, Instagram: @ataelier_haute_complication.
