Zenith Defy Extreme Carl Cox:
a different kind of music

The second watch in collaboration with the famous DJ Carl Cox reinvents, inspired by electronic music, the Zenith high-frequency chronograph with an accuracy of one hundredth of a second.

The Defy Extreme, representing the boldest, oversize and ultra-technical version of the sports watch with integrated bracelet by Zenithcontinues to prove to be the perfect platform for pairing with trendy artists. We have seen it with Felipe Pantone, famous avant-garde street artist, and now with Carl Cox, DJ, producer and Friend of the brand Zenith. To this great electronic music artist and world clubbing icon, the House had already dedicated a special version of the Defy 21 in 2020.

There are 100 examples of the Carl Cox Defy Extreme, which shows off its great personality in its angular 45 mm Defy Extreme case, for the first time forged by combining steel and yellow gold with a matt finish. Water resistance is 200 metres.

The dial is full of references to Cox's world of music, with elements taken from his favourite turntables: the three black chrono counters are made in the shape of vinyl decorated with concentric grooves; the minute circle has a perfectly aligned dot pattern, as a reference to the strobe effect on the sides of the turntables; the power reserve indicator on the smoked sapphire crystal at 12 o'clock is in the shape of an On/Off switch.

The skeleton dial reveals part of the El Primero calibre 9004, introduced in 2017, which in the 21st century brought integrated chronograph display from the tenth to the hundredth of a second. It is equipped with two regulating organs complete with escapement: the time base, oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, and the chronograph, with a frequency of 360,000 vibrations per hour, guaranteeing measurement to 1/100th of a second. The star-shaped oscillating weight and the plate are presented in an exclusive black colour, dedicated to this special edition.

The watch comes with an integrated matt steel bracelet but is also available with a black rubber or black Velcro strap. Thanks to the quick-change system, the straps can be changed easily and without the use of tools.

For the occasion, Cox has created a special playlist entitled 'Carl Cox X Zenith', which also includes the very first soundtrack composed by the DJ for the Swiss company: it is 'This is our Time', available on Spotify and the Zenith website.
